Chinese Weather Vocabulary: Talk About the Weather
Basic Weather Words
天气 (tiānqì) weather, 晴天 (qíngtiān) sunny, 阴天 (yīntiān) cloudy, 下雨 (xià yǔ) raining, 下雪 (xià xuě) snowing, 风 (fēng) wind, 热 (rè) hot, 冷 (lěng) cold, 暖和 (nuǎnhuo) warm, 凉快 (liángkuai) cool.
Describing Weather
Combine words naturally: 今天很热 (Today is very hot). 外面下大雨了 (It's raining heavily outside). 明天会冷 (Tomorrow will be cold). Weather is a safe and universal conversation topic.
Seasons
春天 (chūntiān) spring, 夏天 (xiàtiān) summer, 秋天 (qiūtiān) autumn, 冬天 (dōngtiān) winter. Each character for season combined with 天 (sky/day) creates the season name. Practice these with our Daily Character.
